The neck is contoured for a bass player's hand to increase playability and reduce hand fatigue. The pickups are reversed-split-P style like what Michael uses now in MTD (Rather than the old style dual coils). Its a beautiful sounding instrument, extremely comfortable with ultra low action, no fret buzz or dead spots all across the neck. The asymmetricasl neck has the advantage of being comfortable no matter where you play. This is one of the last 100 pre Gibson basses that were made by Mike and his team. When you pull the Volume port, the Slap Contour is engaged, producing a modern scooped type of sound. So it's not pre gibson ownership, but it is pre gibson manufacturing. Despite Gibson's ownership of Tobias, all of the basses made up to 2044 were built by my regular crew.
